Kamala Harris Tried To Ban Newports And Flavored E-Cigs

Kamala Harris tried to get menthol cigarettes banned in a move that would have taken away people’s Newports, records reveal. This decision could cost her the votes of the 81 percent of black American smokers who smoke menthols.

The Biden-Harris administration tried to ban menthol cigarettes, before deciding to put their strategy on hold before the election. But it’s clear that big-government Kamala has an anti-Newport agenda going back years. Newports are manufactured by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Kamala Harris signed a 2018 letter to the FDA trying to get the government to ban menthols as part of a sweeping proposed ban on flavored tobacco items.

“We are encouraged by FDA’s decision to seek a ban on menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars,” the letter states, calling a potential ban an “important step” to protect the youth from nicotine.

“We therefore urge FDA to move quickly to not only ban flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes, but also to end the marketing of all tobacco products to youth and remove all flavored tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, from the market until or unless they have undergone a thorough FDA review that shows they are of benefit to the public health,” the letter states.

That’s right. Kamala Harris tried to ban real menthol Newports and the many different kinds of flavored vapes that actually help people quit smoking cigarettes in many cases. Considering that the FDA is unlikely to find flavored vapes “of benefit to the public health,” Kamala Harris’ letter represents a call for an outright ban on e-cigs enjoyed by millions of Americans.

Of course, when more different kinds of legal e-cigarettes get banned then illegal black-market Chinese vapes and other smoking devices can increase their domination of the American market. In California, Gavin Newsom passed a ban on flavored tobacco items and now stores are forced to sell so-called non-menthol Newports, angering members of the public.
